The Story of Phoenix
Phoenix was created as a symbol of renewal at Avondale. Inspired by the protea, a remarkable indigenous plant that releases its seeds after fire, the wine reflects nature’s ability to regenerate and begin again. Following the fire that swept through parts of the farm in January 2026, the Phoenix became a powerful emblem of resilience, honouring the deep connection between soil, life and the cycles that shape our land.

Phoenix 2018 is a Bordeaux-style blend crafted from organically farmed vines grown on the slopes of Avondale. Rich aromas of blackcurrant, plum and dark berries unfold alongside notes of dark chocolate and subtle spice. The palate is full and layered, with refined tannins and vibrant freshness leading to a long, elegant finish.
